Is there a long term contract?
No, month-to-month terms are standard
Do I need to buy any special equipment?
No, GoCloud provide everything, hardware, software and technical support
Do I need Internet access?
Yes an Internet connection is essential. As your data is backed up to servers housed in our UK data centres, the only way for you to connect to them is over the Internet.
What if my Internet connection goes down?
GoCloud are able to supply both advice and equipment that will ensure that backup Internet connectivity is in place so that, should your Internet connection go down, you will still be able to access your remotely backed up data.
Is our data securely transmitted to your servers?
Absolutely. All transmissions over the Internet are encrypted. Your data is stored on a Backup Server Cluster, that is, a private cloud of GoCloud servers and SANs that are housed within our fully secure UK data centres.
When is our data backed up?
Our remote backup service gives clients the choice of an instant and continuous back up, where files are backed up the instant they are changed; alternatively, clients may enjoy the more traditional scheduled backup service, where the data is backed up once a day, usually in the early hours of the morning. The second method puts less strain of the amount of traffic going through your broadband connection.
If we need to restore a file do we need to contact GoCloud?
No, our clients are able to restore a file using software that we provide. It means a restoration is just a simple click away. You don't even need to involve your own IT department.
Can I access my backups at any time of the day?
Yes. There is no restriction on when the remotely backed up files may be accessed or restored.
Is support available?
Yes, we encourage our resellers to provide support 24 hours, 7 days a week, 365 days per year. We provide facilities for our resellers to enable them to achieve that target.
How do I contact you for support?
Support is obtained by contacting your reseller.
Is the remote backed up data stored securely?
Absolutely. Firstly, unlike many companies who use storage owned by a 3rd party provider, because it reduces their costs, GoCloud only stores your data on its own servers and Storage Array Network. These are servers managed directly by GoCloud. These represent a private cloud and are far more secure than public clouds of the type mentioned earlier.
It means, for example, that GoCloud always knows where your data is physically stored and which servers are accessing and updating the remote backup. Again companies relying on general cloud storage have no idea where in the world your data is being physically maintained or processed.
This gives GoCloud a second security advantage for you. Because the servers and SAN are ours we know they are physically secure, available and resilient, because we chose the UK data centres in which they are sited!
We know our data centres have multiple power sources, multiple connections to the Internet, fire and intruder prevention systems, locked cabs with keypad access, as well as being manned 24/7.
Finally, our servers are sited in the UK and not in one of the plethora of cheap data centres that are geographically located in Asian countries, with non-existent data protection legislation. As we are situated in the EU you benefit from the data protection provided by EU legislation.
Hopefully, we answered your questions, if not please do get in touch.
